Gold Team Kayaking

What's Up?

As promised, Paige has organized an outing for Gold Team (including Warren) to go kayaking in the Muscoot Reservoir. The main goal here is bonding, but she's not going to try to micromanage team-building or anything like that. Hopefully it'll just come naturally! There's also an arboretum to wander around, and recreation areas for picnicking and just hanging out. It's a relatively hot day, but the water is cool and clean. No swimming is allowed, but if you fall in the water, well... that just happens sometimes.

This is super low stakes and I don't have any plans for anything really happening, but if you want fill out a form to let everyone know how kayaking went for your Gold Team member, please do!!

When the group decides to take a break on the Muscoot East Recreation Area, Paige, who has too much energy from being outside, stretches and glances around. Most of her teammates are seated already, looking out at the water or up at the trees (or maybe bothering each other), but she manages to catch one of their gazes and tilts her head back into the forest preserve.

"Hike? Just a little one."

They'd all been paddling along quite nicely for about half an hour, and so Rogue is bored. "Y'all! Team activity!" She paddles to the front of their little formation to make this announcement. "Ask us a question, we gotta tell the truth, or you get to throw a whole bunch of water at the liars'n'chickens."

Rogue has never been to a slumber party but thinks she gets the general point of this game.

Paige does her best to think of something worth asking and, maybe, worth lying about. Everything feels a little mean.

"Who couldn't you go a day without texting or talking to?"

When Remy surfaces from beneath the water to place a hand on Rogue's kayak, this time it is not with the intention of tipping her over, as it has been several times in the past hour. Instead he just rests his chin on the hull.

"Hey chère. Got you something," he says, lifting the necklace he just fished off the reservoir floor up for her to see.

Rogue braces herself against what feels like an inevitable capsizing, even though one's not immediate. Whatever she's expecting him to do, it isn't this. Which is fairly typical for Remy, all told.

"Now that's real pretty." She says, reaching out despite her best judgments to examine the shiny chain. "But who'd you find to rob down there?"

"Dunno. Must've been some poor soul who ain't as good at staying dry as you are," he says, and then does grab the edge of her kayak's cockpit before dunking himself under the water, attempting to roll the craft as he goes down.

Luckily for her, Rogue is nigh constantly on the lookout for maritime betrayal, and rights the kayak with only a little gasp of indignation.

"You fight so dirty!" She taunts more than accuses, sticking out her kayak paddle to shove Remy away. "No wonder you keep fallin' in."

What're they wearing?: Jono doesn't really own athleticwear or swimwear, so catch him showing up to kayak in beat up jeans, a sleeveless band tee that looks older than he is, and leather boots. And black bandages, of course. At least he had the sense to leave the leather jacket at home?
Are they kayaking solo or in a double?: Double.
How does their kayaking go? Do they end up in the water? So-so if he's lucky. 😌 He's never done anything like this and he doesn't know what he's doing. He's only here because Paige asked him to be. He'll give it a fair shot, but he also doesn't care if he ends up in the water.

Jono & Paige have an Encounter With Nature when a very large rainbow trout swims up to their kayak and keeps poking its head out of the water. It seems very curious about them, but maybe it's just because Paige dropped a cheerio in the water on accident. Regardless, it follows them around for a while, and they can even manage to touch it if they try (Paige certainly is going to).

What're they wearing?: Jean cutoff shorts, a moderately modest bikini, a truly ratty baseball cap, and some dad sandals that have seen better days.
Are they kayaking solo or in a double?: Double! She's in a kayak with Jono.
How does their kayaking go? Do they end up in the water? Even if they end up in the water or a few shenanigans happen, Paige is just happy they're all out here having fun! She tries to keep anyone from play fighting too much, just because this is a reservoir. But, you know, there's only so much she can do, especially since she doesn't have full control of her kayak.

Character Name: Rogue
What're they wearing?: After some debate and multiple swimsuit purchases, trash wins out in her heart. She'll be in a cute but tiny yellow bikini and jean shorts just for the shore. Takes these off in the kayak because she knows she's falling in the water and doesn't want to deal with wet denim. Matching yellow sunglasses, no gloves, and she's barefoot most of the time. She tells everyone to just leave her if she starts drowning.
Are they kayaking solo or in a double?: Single
How does their kayaking go? Do they end up in the water? Her primary motivation IS team bonding but her secondary motivation of knocking Remy into the water as many times as possible is so strong. She realizes this will probably land her in the water, too, and it definitely does.

Despite Rogue's aggressive adherence to sunscreen, there's a spot on the back of her right arm that she kept missing. She's got a pretty itchy burn now :(

What're they wearing?: Black mesh top and miniskirt, which is the closest she could muster to swimwear. She kicks off her boots when she sees Rogue going barefoot.
Are they kayaking solo or in a double?: Solo.
How does their kayaking go? Do they end up in the water? Gets dunked because she miscalculates how much of a hindrance it would be to have metal packed into her hands and feet. She's underwater for a little too long but she does manage to swim her way back up (and [Volunteer] can have helped pull her out?).

What're they wearing?: Athletic pants, expensive kayaking shoes, and otherwise completely topless. His hair is in a messy bun, and his wings are stunning
Are they kayaking solo or in a double?: Solo. He's on the lookout in case he needs to fish anyone out.
How does their kayaking go? Do they end up in the water? He's way too light for this with his hollow bones, which makes it difficult to balance the kayak. Luckily he can just bail and abandon ship, flying up into the air. (This isn't to say there were no mishaps while he got out of there.) He was there to pluck people out of the water if needed.

Warren nearly collides with a seagull midair at one point, but manages to avert this just in time. It would have looked cool, except that he almost hit a seagull, which is deeply uncool.

How does their kayaking go? Do they end up in the water? He is trying to knock Rogue into the water also. And gets knocked into the water by Rogue. They will probably not ruin the entire day.
