Earth-1883: Emma's Wild West

Wednesday, July 9th, 2025 08:53 am
Welcome to Wolf's Gorge, AZ
Arizona, the 1880s
Emma Frost, the Outlaw
Emma's Wild West Early in the morning of the 9th of July, Ambrose mentally reaches out to Emma to let her know that it's time to start their forays into alternate realities. Like. Today. With the help of Kitty & Illyana, he's found an upcoming alignment and knows how to transport their consciousnesses there - and the first reality bestowed with this honor is hers! She's quick to telepathically share the news. The perfect alignment won't happen until the evening, but once it's time to go, it's time to go. Welcome to the Wild West!

In this reality everyone is a mutant, though the strength and usefulness of powers varies widely. In general, most find themselves with overly specialized or useless abilities, making mutants with a better skillset at quite an advantage. This is a very tolerant, merit-based society - the things that matter are power, money, and skill - nothing more.

Emma Frost fled Boston after the deaths of her father, mother, and eldest sister; while it looked like the doing of her father, Emma was actually to blame. She headed west, and along the way picked up various orphans. She's established herself in Wolf's Gorge, AZ as the owner of a saloon, above which is a small orphanage she runs. She's one of the founders of the Hellfire Trading Company along with Sebastian Shaw, and generally comes off as a shrewd but not unkind business woman with a heart of gold, given how much she cares for unfortunate children.

She's certainly not connected to the mysterious bandit posse that's been terrorizing Wolf's Gorge and various towns along the main road that connects them, robbing stage coaches, trains, and demanding protection money from the locals. U.S. Marshals have been sent out to investigate the situation and have their suspicions, but it's incredibly difficult to pin anything on this entrepreneur that's so concerned with the well-being of the children under her care...
A Strange Reality & A Heist Emma arrives early in the morning and, as they'll learn is the norm, is the only one to arrive initially. She spends about eight hours thinking that Ambrose screwed her over, but is relieved to find, by late afternoon, that suddenly everyone is themselves. Once they've arrived, Emma gets them up to speed on what's going on and what the next day will hold for them. And that is, apparently, a heist.

Emma and her Hellions are planning to rob a small stagecoach caravan moving back east from California, filled with gold and gems that the owners didn't want to transport via train. The U.S. Marshals, guessing that the local bandits will be a problem for this transport, are on guard and hoping to catch the mysterious group and take them into custody once and for all. Canonically, the Marshals are ultimately outwitted, but Emma and her crew (with the help of Remy and Rogue) only make off with the contents of two of the four stagecoaches. There are injuries, but the only deaths are some of the poor occupants of the stagecoaches.

By the end of the third day, the team hasn't uncovered any trace of what or who led this version of Emma Frost to the Siege Perilous, and her memories of this world begin to break down, leaving her with no knowledge of what happens next. With no clues to follow and nothing clearly left to pursue, all they can do is wait. Watching the sun set over the desert from the front porch of Kit's saloon, Emma suddenly feels a strange compulsion to walk out into the desert.

Before her body can betray her, though, they're all pulled back home.

As the group reappears in Ambrose's room, they find him unconscious on the floor. It seems that even the Siege Perilous' endurance has limits.

During their time in Wolf's Gorge...

Kurt Adler overhears that a strange man has been hanging around town, and he doesn't seem to be associated with the bandits at all. Initially, the only information they get is his name: Colton Sneekan. Eventually they discover that he's just in love with Illyana Rasputina, who he definitely tries to hit up for a drink at some point.

Back in town, Kitty Pryde is approached by Sebastian Shaw, Emma's business partner and definitely not a sketchy guy at all. He asks if they've seen Emma - they have something very serious to discuss. He doesn't seem pleased, and will be very annoyed if not told where she is. Don't they understand how important their business is? Depending on how they act, this may result in a confrontation.

As a note, some facts that have been established already: Both Shinobi Shaw and Warren Worthington III are dead by Emma's hand. There's no direct link between Emma, the Hellions, and the robberies that have been happening. The Marshals are good at their jobs - the Hellfire Trading Company is just, for the moment, better.
