What's Up?

Time to head off! Emma Frost has arranged a luxurious vacation for the team and today's the day.

Early on Friday morning, everyone is up and dressed and heading out the door for an 8AM flight on a private jet. While they aren't able to leave their troubles completely behind them, the weekend ahead promises the opportunity to experience something different from the everyday, unwind in lavish (if gaudy) surroundings, have a good time making bad decisions, and perhaps even return to New York with a clearer head.

Thousands of miles later, the group departs the jet and hops into a limousine that takes them through the heart of the city. While the weather is cool, the sky is clear and the city shines under the desert sun. Before long, they arrive at the bustling Bellagio Hotel & Casino and are given keys to their respective suites. After breaking off in pairs and settling into their rooms...the rest of the day is theirs!

There are endless shows, bars, casinos, and other attractions in Sin City. Better get to exploring.

Volunteer Slots

Heading downstairs to the front desk to ask about the accommodations, Scott Summers stumbles upon a seemingly intimate conversation.

They spot the woman at the front desk talking to a green-skinned mutant (with less-than-expertly applied makeup attempting to obscure his complexion). The two are almost close enough to share a kiss and looking deeply into each other's eyes. When the man notices Scott, though, he quickly cuts the conversation short and departs, leaving the woman looking flustered.

While passing through the lobby, [Character B] is recognized by a young woman. She approaches them with stars in her eyes and tells them that they're her favorite X-Man and how exciting it is to see them in person! And here of all places!! She asks them to take a selfie with her.

Exploring the city, Kurt Wagner encounters a [street performer of choice] that seems to have drawn inspiration from their X-Man look. That's...flattering? Kind of??

“A good scenario,” he thinks. Maybe the soothing light in here is making Kurt more introspective. Or, more likely, he’s just prone to these moments of wistful optimism. “Kids who get help from the very beginning, no longer needing to stumble through life wondering what is wrong with them. Not realizing there’s nothing wrong at all.”

He sighs, and doesn’t break his peaceful smile as he adds: “And then they’ll all spread rumors that Kitty Pride never learned what a shark was until she was in her early twenties.”

The soothing light does make everything a little quiet. A little more somber than maybe one would attribute to Vegas. She presses her cheek to his shoulder, in support of the little blue boy who needed the very place they could provide now.

"That's what we're doing, isn't it? Not just with us, but. Making everywhere a place they can get help from the very beginning. I'd take so many shark rumors for that. I'd pretend I'd never even heard of fish."

“Ja.” Kurt laughs under his breath and turns his head just enough to plant a kiss on top of Kitty’s head. “The hero thing is wonderful, of course,” he murmurs. “We save people. Sometimes it’s even fun. But I don’t think it’s actually the most important thing we’re doing.”

She thinks about this sometimes, about what's the most important. Was it stopping the threats they could, or concentrating on the children. Could they really save the world? Would they ever know if they had, or is whatever they do just prolonging some inevitable fate? The tiger shark circles overhead. She's at least resolute in her answer.

"It's not. Neither is the school, as a school. We're a home, first."

"And how good it is to have you as part of it," Kurt says warmly, nudging into kitty just a little so their path down the hallway sways a bit, even as the momentum of his tail keeps them safely balanced.

"Wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

Kitty very comfortable in her melodrama, fake-falls into a glass wall, where she lets her hand touch the glass, and go about halfway through, before letting it hover, thoughtfully, intangible in the water.

"I suppose it'd be just super illegal for us to go visit the fish for a moment." They technically could if they held their breath a little. But it would be cool.

Kurt reacts instinctively to Kitty "falling", but it quickly turns into laughter as he spins her away from the glass wall. "They would throw us out, call us dangerous terrorists against their fancy fish," he warns, clearly not worried at all about this imagined scenario at all.
