I promised an update on Charles. I was hoping something would have changed from when he first fell comatose to now, but it's remained stable.

His mind is [...] empty. The closest thing it comes to is astral projection, but it's not that. At least not in any way that I've encountered it before. All his vitals remain on track, of course. I'm not sure how useful any more digging around on my part will be, but I'm going to keep checking in for changes.

Yes. But things don't happen without a reason. If the obvious methods aren't yielding results, then we explore the unobvious ones until every option's been exhausted.

He's stable. None of us are suffering. We have time to figure this out.

Without any clear leads at this point besides, it's really all we can do. I've had such a clear path for the past few years I'm even less fond of this than I would be otherwise.

I know. Surely something will lead to even a small revelation.

Ironically, this might be one of the calmest times we've ever had, without Professor Xavier sending us off on new missions.

He only called me twice last week, so pretty well.

In some ways it does feel like a strange lull, doesn't it? Do you miss going on missions?

I know we're doing important work at the school too, but I can't deny there's something satisfyingly direct about jumping in and pulling people out of danger.

He is, and I'm lucky to have his. I'm trying very hard to avoid looking like I have any day-to-day role in the company other than the charity arm, and he's been wonderful about making that work.

That's always very rewarding, and the adrenaline can be addictive, can't it?

I've always been better in the field than in the classroom. We did good work in Las Vegas.

Agreed, though I am still a little annoyed that we had to deal with that when we were supposed to be unwinding.

No. But Professor Xavier was always focused on finding more mutants. I knew inevitably we'd have to be role models for whoever came after us.

You planned a great trip, surprise casino robbery and all. Did you get to relax?
