Teenage Dream

Day 1 - Saturday Fire streaks across the sky and crash-lands in the woods near the Xavier Institute. The X-Men who arrive on scene discover a small spacecraft of a never-seen-before design. Warren Worthington III risks the smoke and flames to run inside and rescue the vessel's only occupant: an injured human man who says his name is Corsair.

Corsair explains he was attacked and only had enough resources to make it to the nearest inhabited planet in this galaxy: Earth. The X-Men agree to help him and move his ship to the X-Men's hangar. Reading his mind, Emma Frost learns that Corsair is a) Christopher Summers, a pilot who was kidnapped by aliens roughly 13 years ago; b) the father of Scott Summers; and c) fully aware of who the X-Men are, and has no intentions of revealing his real name.

Just as Scott confronts Corsair, another ship appears in the sky, and a squadron of aliens rush the Institute, armed with blaster pistols and electrified batons. The X-Men fight the invaders, who all speak an unintelligible language. Laura Kinney is knocked out by a baton shock so potent it would've killed a normal person. The fight converges on Corsair's location. Scott tackles his father to the ground, saving him from a blaster shot. In this same instant, a blinding flash of violet light fills the room, and everyone falls unconscious.

When the X-Men come to a few minutes later, they discover that they've been transformed into teenagers. Corsair, mysteriously unaffected, tells them that the aliens suddenly retreated after the blast. "It was some kind of weapon I've never seen before," he says.

(The students are totally unaffected, along with a few other adults who were nowhere near the flash of light.)

Day 2 - Sunday Everyone's starting to acclimate to their new circumstances, but are no closer to finding a way to restore things back to normal. Corsair says his ship can track the whereabouts of their alien attackers, but he needs to repair it first and welcomes assistants. Scott Summers and Illyana Rasputin volunteer, and are regaled with Corsair's (most PG-rated) space adventures.

Emma Frost is overwhelmed, and steals a vehicle from the garage (maybe even their own, which is technically not stealing?) to escape to Salem Center for a few hours. The town is used to mutant visitors from the Xavier Institute, and they're treated with surprising friendliness.

Remy Lebeau is assumed to be a new student by some actual teens, who invite them to watch a movie in the student common area. The actual teens share snacks and gossip about how Rogue is sooooo cool. At least three of these teens have crushes on them.

Day 3 - Monday Time to be a team, kids! All of the de-aged X-Men are thrown into the Danger Room, and face off against a series of holographic opponents, including ninjas, dinosaurs, and giant robots. Scott Summers is still figuring this out, and accidentally attacks [Character G] in the middle of the chaos. By contrast, Piotr Rasputin excels at combat training, and is the first to take down a Sentinel.

Kitty Pryde catches Corsair trying to hide a glowing violet device—the exact same color as the flash of light that transformed them into teens. After being questioned, Corsair admits that this is the Arka Kyllion, which roughly translates to "Timeline Needle"—an alien artifact that can supposedly return a person to the past and allow them a redo of their greatest regrets. He claims that it's dangerous and he was just trying to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. But as the Arka Kyllion must be the cause of their current predicament, he's forced to hand it over to Ambrose Porter, who believes he can find a way to reverse its effects.

Kurt Wagner volunteers to assist Ambrose. While waving around the priceless alien artifact, they discover that the glowing "needle" doubles as a weapon when they slice Ambrose's desk in half. Oops. Concentrating on wanting to reverse their mistake is enough to make the desk suddenly reassemble, but no amount of concentrating will change them back into an adult.

Day 4 - Tuesday The aliens return, looking oddly childlike compared to before—clearly also affected by the Timeline Needle. That time in the Danger Room paid off, as the X-Men (and Corsair) now fight their attackers to a stalemate. Charles Xavier intervenes, and reveals that he's spent this time telepathically working his way into the minds of the aliens to learn their language, and bestows mutual understanding on everyone in the room. The aliens explain that they're bounty hunters, and Corsair is an untrustworthy pirate who stole the Timeline Needle to sell to the highest bidder. They attacked to get it back, and to reverse the effects of the Needle, which can only be done by the person who triggered it in the first place—one of the X-Men.

One of the aliens (a 7-foot-tall bipedal lizard) produces a scanner that can pinpoint who's the last person to trigger the Timeline Needle. The culprit is... Scott Summers! Xavier theorizes that Scott subconsciously wished that he was saved by his father, not the X-Men, when he was a boy. (This is why Corsair was unaffected despite being in the range of the blast.) Scott takes the artifact, and everyone returns to normal.

Well, almost. In order to protect his school, Xavier mindwipes the aliens of all knowledge of the Institute and the X-Men, and sends them on their way. The Arka Kyllion is given to Ambrose to study, as he claims to be the only one here who'll be responsible with such a powerful artifact. Corsair is given the chance to explain himself to the X-Men—or at least, to Scott, who's pretty pissed off to learn that his father is a deadbeat and a criminal. Corsair makes no excuses for his lies, but says he's grateful for their help and promises to never bother them again.

Half an hour later, Ambrose raises the alarm: Corsair knocked him out, stole the Timeline Needle (again), and fled back to space...

Name: Major Christopher Summers, USAF

Age: Mid-40's
Origin: Earth (Human)

Height: 6'3"

Distinguishing Features: Well-groomed horseshoe mustache and sideburns. Blue bandana. Gold earrings. Two blasters, and a cutlass sword worn on his hip. Charming and expressive, which makes it less obvious that he and Scott look extremely similar.

Guidelines The Timeline Needle weaves different strands of the timestream into the present day. You are replaced with a past version of yourself who is physically, mentally and emotionally a teenager, although you are still "you" and possess some characteristics from your present-day version. (No time paradoxes!)

The past version is between the ages of 13 to 16. Choose whatever's the most interesting time to take them from.

The past version arrives wearing clothes they would've worn at that age, and has the same haircut and physical characteristics (so no tattoos or scars of their adult self). Unfortunately, they still have their Siege Perilous mark.

The past version can have all, some or no present-day memories, depending on what's most fun to play. This includes knowledge of skills (so they could have no memories past the age of 13 but their control of their powers is on par with their adult self, or they know how to fly the jet). They can have more impressionistic knowledge (e.g. "I don't know who you are, but I sense you're someone important to me" or "Somehow I feel like this office belongs to me").

The past version has their full mutant powers, even if they were taken from a time before their powers awakened or before they developed their secondary mutations (e.g. a teenage Rogue would have all of her adult self's absorptions).

This is meant to show that the characters are still inherently their present-day selves (same with having their Siege Perilous marks). However, you can play them as either not aware of their powers, or needing to learn to control their "new" powers.

Characters can opt out, and instead get to act as their regular adult self who's now responsible for an X-Men team full of teenagers.

When characters are restored to their present-day forms, they will have memories of everything that happened while they were altered.

Character: Scott Summers
Age: 15. Just after the X-Men rescued him from Jack Winters, his evil criminal foster dad. Scott knows about the X-Men but hasn't started living with them yet.
Appearance: 5'9", awkward and skinny (somewhat malnourished). Oversized, ratty clothing: long-sleeved shirt, jeans and sneakers. Hidden bruises on his arms. Never smiles. Ruby quartz glasses are rectangular frames (instead of wraparounds).
Memories/Knowledge: Has all of Adult Scott's technical skills (driving, piloting, martial arts, etc), but won't realize it until he has to use them. Has none of his adult memories except for the vague impression that all of the X-Men are familiar to him (although he does better recognize the ones who rescued him from Jack).
Powers: Scott has only known he's a mutant for a couple of months. He has adult Scott's control over his powers, but he won't realize that until he puts on the visor.
Anything else?: phew

Character: Emma Frost
Age: 13. This is a little bit before Emma's powers have manifested, so she's simply living her (less than ideal) rich girl life. She has no idea that she's a mutant, who the X-Men are, or what's going on, and is very much deep in her 'don't trust people' phase.
Appearance: Prep school uniform (tie, white button up, just above the knee plaid navy skirt (rolled up to mid thigh), knee high socks, loafers, blazer) immaculately pressed and taken care of. Large diamond stud earrings, pearl necklace, curled hair, subtle (but definitely present) make up.
Memories/Knowledge: Combat training is hanging out somewhere in the back of her head, but will mostly only be thoughtless reactions until they do a bit of training. No memories at all, but will feel oddly attached to these people she doesn't know.
Powers: Doesn't know about her powers because when she was actually her current age, they hadn't manifested yet. Initially will have a little bit shaky of control (mind spiking everyone, obvious when she's rifling through brains more deeply), but will mostly get the hang of it. Her ability to shield herself from Manuel will be fucky the whole time because I want her to suffer 😌
Anything else?: Emma before she knows how to be subtle, sorry everyone!!

Character: Illyana Rasputin
Age: 14/15ish. Shortly before she manifested her soulsword for the first time and escaped from her imprisonment in Limbo.
Appearance: Showed up wearing a little haunted doll dress which she will rapidly ditch for a training uniform. In the height of her flat hair/blunt bangs era. Just comparatively a little scrawny and underfed compared to present-day Illyana. Also just has extra intense creepy/demonic/evil aura. She's off-putting!
Memories/Knowledge: She has no real memories and doesn't know who anyone is (besides Piotr!) but has the impressionistic knowledge that this is a safe place and the people here are her friends.
Powers: She can teleport (not as well as her adult self), cast some spells (not as well as she can in Limbo), and summon her armor. She has her soulsword but doesn't know about it and her psionic shields are something she learned to do later in life.
Anything else?: She might punch a hole in the wall or something before she calms down 😌

Character: Kitty Pryde
Age: Her powers recently manifested, and she was also recently approached by Professor Xavier and told him she already had a private school and didn't need to go to his. She is extremely busy, as a 14-year old high school senior in dance, martial arts classes, robotics club, etc etc. So she knows the X-Men in theory but has only met Xavier face to face.
Appearance: Also a prep school uniform, but her skirt is too big, the shirt also too big and appears unironed even though it was probably ironed. General mussed appearance and somehow weird coffee stains on the collar at all times. She has a beat-up old backpack with nerdy and political enamel pins that pass as an expression of personality. She also wears fun knee socks with her uniform. Today it's little Yodas. Her hair is in two braided pigtails but curls are constantly escaping. Constantly looks like she's starving and way too big undereye shadows for a young teen.
Memories/Knowledge: She has all of grownup Kitty's skills, which are mostly in the same realms that teen-Kitty already has skills, so she might just think she's really On Point this weekend. She doesn't remember anyone but may have moments of implicit memories as drama demands.
Powers: Kitty's only known about her powers for a few weeks, and is in full denial mode about them. She has grownup Kitty's control in theory, but it will take a little minute to adjust, so she will keep phasing out at unfortunate times at the start.
Anything else?: Lockheed is also a baby and when they first see each other after the babyfication ray happens, he'll probably singe her hair in alarm, and then they will mutually have the sense they trust each other explicitly and be immediately best friends again.

Character: Remy Lebeau
Age: 16. Sent on his first solo job by his dad and ended up running off with Rogue and the spoils instead. That happened like, yesterday for them.
Appearance: Normal nondescript clothing, but he'll be back in his insane wardrobe as soon as he finds it. Or maybe will allow Teen Emma to dress him however she wants since they're going on an excursion together.
Memories/Knowledge: He remembers the cats but does not otherwise have any of his adult self's memories. Remy learned most of his useful skills before this point in his life tbh so any additional skills etc are pretty negligible.
Powers: He has full control of his powers thankfully.
Anything else?: his face upon finding out he's married with children (cats)

Character: Rogue
Age: 14. She very, very recently ran away from her mothers after they forced her to steal a plane piloted by Carol Danvers. Carol's memories are still fresh in her brain, and her powers won't go away. Her travels had so far taken her to Louisiana, where she stole the thing Remy needed to, and they juuust-just ran away with it together.
Appearance: Big baggy sweatshirts over leggings, tights under jean shorts, much more hiding her skin.
Memories/Knowledge: I think she's going to not remember people as such, but will feel responsible for Gold Team and not know why, including Adult Laura. She will remember Remy but only at this age. She doesn't have the skills she would learn later from Remy along the way, but may have some of people she recently absorbed at this age, since she was a lot more liberal with that power.
Powers: She does know about her powers, but Carol's are so recent to her they weren't quite under control. She also has never used her absorption powers with any finesse, so the fact that she can will be strange.
Anything else?: I like to think she will also pass the boathouse and remember she can send people there

Character: Piotr Rasputin
Age: 16. Piotr's life is very humdrum at this age - both his siblings are alive and well, his mutant powers have manifested but everyone in the village is chill with them, and he's just living a quiet rural life with his family.
Appearance: Almost the same, but (only) 6'4", and with a slightly less angular face. He's outfitted in a simple white t-shirt, canvas pants, and boots that are very farm-appropriate. His mood is significantly lighter, he's more talkative, and he's a little more shy as opposed to sad.
Memories/Knowledge: His knowledge about Illyana's situation is murky, enough information that he's not surprised that she's older and different, but not so much that he's stressed out because he knows she went missing. He knows English still, and has retained all of his KGB training (which is minorly distressing to him). Has no real adult memories.
Powers: He'd had them for three years at this point, so this is old news!
Anything else?: I'm hoping to make him make some friends so when he's back to being sad he can have slightly more established links with people to bring him out of his shell lmao.

Character: Ambrose Porter
Age: 13. Back when he was living a dull little life in a dull little place with his dull little human family. It was a simpler time. Anyone that asks will learn that he grew up on military bases with a family that moved around a lot; at this time in his life, he was living at Fort Carson in Colorado. He was sort of a ~~lonely~~ loner kid.
Appearance: Ambrose is a small man even as an adult; as a tween, he's short, skinny, and awkward with a mop of dark hair. He's dressed in an oversized hoodie, cargo shorts (exposing scraped knees), and worn sneakers. Despite his altered age, his eyes remain silver and reflective.
Memories/Knowledge: Ambrose's memories are always a chaotic mess because the vastness of his experiences as the Siege Perilous is simply too much and too strange for his human mind to hold onto reliably. This is still true. However, his memories of his childhood are much clearer now and he has no recollection of his adulthood or the manifestation of his telepathic powers. It's as if he just awakened to being the Siege Perilous at a much younger age. While he doesn't recall marking the X-Men, he recognizes his work and he feels some connection to them. His emotions seem to be driving him more than usual now, likely because of his developmental age.
Powers: Ambrose doesn't seem to know that he's a telepath or a mutant, but he does know that he's the judge of the Siege Perilous. That he's an ancient, reality-altering force that has somehow been forced into a human body. While he can't consciously access his telepathy, his mind is locked down like a steel trap, suggesting that it's still there somewhere and on guard.
Anything else?: ...This may be the best time to convince him not to send you back to your realities, actually. :( He wants the older kids to like him.

Character: Charles Xavier
Age: 16. At this age, Charles has had his mutant powers for some time and has just started attending Bard College.
Appearance: Charles has the same serious, contemplative face (and distinct eyebrows) he's always had. Now there are just fewer lines. He also still has some of his (blonde) hair, though it's already starting to thin and receding at a rapid rate. It's a whole look on a teenager. He's fit and neat and dressed in a button-up shirt, sweater, slacks, and dark shoes, looking very put together. It's all expensive but none of it's particularly stylish. He can walk, also. So that's nice.
Memories/Knowledge: He remembers everything. Which makes all of this more of an embarrassing inconvenience than a real problem for him. Now if only his students were in the same boat...
Powers: Charles knows about and has access to all of his powers.
Anything else?: Bully him.

Character:
Age: 13, just before Charles and Erik took him to America. He feels a strong tug to take care of all the X-Men, but he's also incredibly skittish. He can still speak English (and all his other languages), but it takes him a while to realize that.
Appearance: 5'1", super bony, hair and fur aren't nearly as healthy and shiny. Oversized t-shirt with the logo of some local German football team, and track pants with a hole cut in them for his tail. No shoes. Needs a haircut.
Memories/Knowledge: Kurt retains his skills in swordsmanship and acrobatics, but doesn't really know what he's doing. Extremely drawn to trust Scott and Xavier.
Powers: He thinks he just found out about his teleportation 6 months ago. He's always been blue. This version of himself hates how he looks and is deeply insecure.
Anything else?: Spooked.

Character: Warren Worthington III
Age: 16, which is about when he started doing his teen vigilante shit. He's handsome, he's rich, both of his parents are alive. He's also deeply, deeply in the closet about being a mutant.
Appearance: His hair is shorter in a stylish cut, and he's wearing a little button down shirt covered in a large trench coat that he keeps on declining to tak off.
Memories/Knowledge: Nope! He doesn't recognize a damn soul here, but for some reason he immediately takes a linking to them.
Powers: He's really only aware that he a) has wings, and b) is surprisingly durable and takes deadly falls like a champ. He hadn't developed his healing blood yet, so doesn't realize it's a thing.
Anything else?: He's way more fun than Old Warren

Corsair arrives, and the X-Men are turned into teens. Corsair Lie #1: The aliens did it.

Maybe it's Scott's imagination, but he keeps catching Corsair looking at him. Scott is used to being stared at—the glasses stand out, and his full X-Men regalia was made to command attention. But he doesn't think he looks any odder than Corsair with his red-and-blue space attire(?), or the distinctly piratical sword hanging from his belt. Certainly he's not the oddest-looking X-Man, although Scott would never say that aloud.

He's distracted from these thoughts by Emma's approach. Scott is still too restrained to kiss her when there's so many people present, but he does a hold a hand out to her. "Sorry. This whole thing delayed our weekend plans."

Someone's shaking him. His head is throbbing the way it always does after one of his migraines, and he can feel hard ground underneath him, not the infirmary bed, which means his latest blackout didn't last that long. Usually people know better than to touch him after a blackout, though. "Scotty. Scotty, wake up." Who is that?

Scott opens his eyes. The world is washed in red as always, and a man kneels over him, obvious concern on his face. Scott tenses, not liking how close this stranger is, except— except he—

"Where am I?" He doesn't bother to ask what happened—that's obvious. But then he spots someone else nearby, also collapsed on the ground. A kid, like him. Scott turns away from the mustached man, and pulls himself up enough so he can check on the other teen. "Hey, are you okay?"

His bedroom door is locked. Or at least, this is the door that Scott somehow knows leads into a room that belongs to him, despite having no memory of this place. Which is incredibly weird, but Scott hit his limit on disbelief hours ago.

Scott wiggles the doorknob experimentally. He learned how to pick locks like this with a paperclip, but swore that he'd never use that knowledge for evil. Is it against the rules to break into his room? (What if they catch him and throw him out?) Scott pats his jeans pockets, and then knocks on the door next to his. Ghosty Girl went into this room.

"Hey. Do you have a paperclip?"

Some time after waking up, Illyana is making her way through the mansion a room at a time. After teleporting away from the hangar, she'd been in a blind panic and had sacked an office looking for a weapon or any indication of where she was. She'd found the latter, at least — New York, a place she remembers to be on Earth.

Knowing she's out of Limbo is enough to calm her a little, and after she masters her fear she can't help but find the mansion to be remarkably familiar. With every new room she investigates, she feels more and more certain that no great threat lurks here. In fact, she's beginning to feel a little foolish brandishing her stolen kitchen knife, and sets it down on a bedroom dresser as she sets about opening all the drawers to see if she can find anything useful, or at least something better to wear.

That tentative calm evaporates as the door to the room opens again, and she scrambles to grab the knife and wheel around to face the stranger.
