I promised an update on Charles. I was hoping something would have changed from when he first fell comatose to now, but it's remained stable.

His mind is [...] empty. The closest thing it comes to is astral projection, but it's not that. At least not in any way that I've encountered it before. All his vitals remain on track, of course. I'm not sure how useful any more digging around on my part will be, but I'm going to keep checking in for changes.

Okay. So he's left.

Possible scenarios:
1) Someone or something did this to him on purpose.
2) An accident. Something happened that no one intended, or at least didn't intend for him.
3) He chose to do this to himself.

#3 is the least likely, but not out of the question. Professor Xavier wouldn't abandon us without notice unless circumstances were incredibly dire.

#2 is more likely than #3. But the eight of us getting the same mark as him suggests a certain amount of deliberate action. Either it's the same thing which put the mark on him and us, or something put the mark on him, and something else transferred it to us.

Yes, I could see a scenario for #3, if he was protecting himself from something worse.

The marks do make it feel very deliberate. Just us, the original group, being marked, feels strange. Particularly because it includes Manny and me who aren't publicly known as members.

Something that caught him by surprise too. He keeps his secrets, but if he was poking at something truly dangerous [...] he would've let one of us know.

Christian, Xavier, Erik, Moira, Shinobi, and Warren. The Morlocks. Technically some of the children here, of course. It's not a small list, by any means, and Shinobi is far from trustworthy, but I can't imagine him readily sharing that information.

Of course. I suppose if they have access to Charles' mind, though, that information is readily available. Or if they're a telepath that had access to some of us. [...] So maybe it isn't as strange outside of the fact that we're important, for some reason.

Easy enough to grab a magnet and see. I imagine if it is we could tell through our skin. No knife necessary.

Yes. If this could overwhelm Charles I we need to keep being cautious until there's reason not to be.

One of the missions we went on when we were younger could have marked us somehow, but that doesn't necessarily explain why this hit Charles. There could have been some event when we were all here years ago that went unnoticed. Charles could have the closest mental links to us all. Don't use an overly strong magnet, please. See if one off the refrigerator will stick to your hand. Pick a cute one so you can send us a picture if it does.

No, these are good avenues to explore. I'll review the records of our previous missions. There might be something obvious we've overlooked.

~~I was only going to use a neody~~ [...] You know, Magneto can induce an electrical current into non-ferrous metals and turn them into electromagnets. He could easily turn a metallic substance magnetic, manipulate it, then make it non-magnetic again.

In case it helps. So I don't know if it's magnetic but I did some other experiments. It doesn't boil or freeze as far as I can tell, and if it's left out too long it solidifies and then disappears entirely.

Also I tried, but I can't phase around it like I could anything foreign to me, so it's safe to say it's mixed in us now pretty nice and snug.

Great. It got in us somehow. There has to be a way to get it out.

Right. And it took about 48 hours to solidify and disappear. But it's been in us for way longer than that. Implies it's either just sensitive to the air or it's done something to bond with our bodies entirely. Probably a full blood transfusion isn't feasible but if you have other ideas.

When I extracted some it seemed to fill back in to exactly how it was, so I would agree that it seems to be [...] us, in some way.

Suppose it isn't a big surprise that something that came from brainwaves could literally get under our skin but I hate it.
